George Zabaras has over 37 years of experience in the Oil & Gas Upstream business. This includes 33 years with Shell in various technical roles most recently in Upstream Major Projects. Technical skills include deep expertise in flow assurance, multiphase flow and fundamental knowledge of all aspects of Petroleum Engineering from Reservoir to Process engineering. He Contributed to nearly all of Shell’s Deepwater Projects and served as a subject matter expert for Shell in flow assurance and multiphase flow. He hired and trained many of Shell’s flow assurance engineers. He has been awarded 7 US patents, published 20+ papers in open literature. He has been involved in all phases of offshore developments from conceptual studies to handover to operations. Since his retirement from Shell, George has been involved in flow assurance consulting, most recently with Enbridge and Shell in commissioning studies of the Deepwater Vito project oil and gas export pipelines and various aspects of the Appomattox project well thermal behavior. He holds a BS degree from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece and a PhD degree from the University of Houston. He is a registered professional engineer in Texas.
